I am a freelance DOP, drone, camera and Steadicam operator working out of New Zealand  and the UK (Currently in NZ). 

 

I landed my first job in TV as a staff cameraman for Yorkshire Television in 1996. A couple of years later I moved to NZ and entered the freelance world. Since then I take great pride in my 20 year working relationship with NHNZ, an international production company who make ground-breaking factual TV for the biggest global broadcasters. To date I have shot over 30 different productions for NHNZ in various parts of the world. Other international clients include; Pioneer Productions, Windfall Films, BriteSpark Films, CBS, Sony Tristar, Gibson Group, South Pacific Pictures and Beach House Pictures. 

 

Steadicam and drama have been important parts of my career. However more recently I have transferred these storytelling skills to my love for documentary and wildlife cinematography, joint passions that have given me experiences and challenges beyond my craziest dreams. 

 

I have always felt that the most honourable and powerful use of film and television lies in its ability to simultaneously entertain and educate. This feeling that all around us there are compelling stories that need to be told has guided my love for cinematography and the natural world.

 

As a DOP I come with a full set of gear and a vehicle to put it all in. This includes both big and small cameras, drones, lighting, sound and grip. Please check out this page for my gear list, most of which is also available for dry hire.
